FamDisplay ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and your family's data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile application, and services.

Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address (required for account creation)
  • Name when you sign in with Google
  • Family member names and profile information you provide
  • Profile photos (optional)

Calendar Data

  • Calendar events from connected services (Google Calendar, iCloud, Outlook, etc.)
  • Events you create directly in FamDisplay
  • Calendar subscription URLs you provide

App Usage Data

  • Routines, to-dos, and rewards you create
  • Completion status of tasks and routines
  • Display preferences and settings
  • Device tokens for paired display devices (iPad, Apple TV, etc.)

Technical Information

  • Device type and operating system
  • IP address and general location (city/region level)
  • App version and crash reports

Google User Data

FamDisplay uses Google APIs to access your Google Calendar data. This section specifically describes our practices regarding Google user data.

FamDisplay's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What Google Data We Access

  • Your Google account email address and profile name (for authentication)
  • Your Google Calendar events including: event title, start/end time, location, and description
  • Calendar metadata such as calendar names and colors

How We Use Google Data

We use your Google Calendar data solely to:

  • Display your calendar events on your FamDisplay devices
  • Sync and refresh calendar data to keep your display current
  • Show event details such as titles, times, and locations on your family display

We do not use your Google data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the FamDisplay calendar service.

Google Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your Google user data with any third parties except:

  • Service providers necessary to operate FamDisplay (Supabase for data storage, Vercel for hosting)
  • When required by law or to protect our legal rights

We do not share your Google Calendar data with advertisers or data brokers.

Google Data Storage & Protection

  • Your Google Calendar data is cached temporarily in our secure database to enable display functionality
  • Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • Data at rest is stored in Supabase with encryption enabled
  • Access to your data is restricted to authenticated requests from your account only
  • We use OAuth 2.0 tokens which can be revoked at any time

Limited Use Disclosure

In accordance with Google's Limited Use requirements:

  • We only use Google data to provide and improve the FamDisplay calendar display service
  • We do not transfer Google data to others except as necessary to provide the service, as required by law, or with your explicit consent
  • We do not use Google data for serving advertisements
  • Human access to Google data is limited to necessary debugging, support, and legal compliance purposes

Google Data Retention & Deletion

  • Calendar event data is cached and refreshed periodically (typically every 15 minutes)
  • When you disconnect your Google Calendar, we delete your cached calendar data
  • When you delete your FamDisplay account, all your data including Google Calendar data is permanently deleted
  • You can revoke FamDisplay's access to your Google account at any time via Google Account Permissions

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our service
  • To display your family calendar, routines, and tasks
  • To sync data across your devices
  • To send important service updates and notifications
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To improve our product and develop new features
  • To respond to support requests

Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Supabase - Database and authentication services (data stored securely in the cloud)
  • Stripe - Payment processing (we never see or store your full payment card details)
  • Vercel - Website hosting
  • Apple (CalDAV) - If you connect Apple Calendar, we access your iCloud calendar events
  • Calendar providers - Google, Apple, Microsoft (only to sync calendars you connect)

Children's Privacy

FamDisplay is designed for families with children. We take children's privacy seriously:

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13
  • Child profiles are created and managed by parents/guardians
  • Children's data (names, routines, points) is controlled by the parent account holder
  • We do not display advertising to children
  • Parents can delete their children's data at any time by deleting profiles or their account

Data Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Data is stored securely with our cloud provider (Supabase) with encryption enabled
  • We use secure OAuth 2.0 authentication
  • Access to user data is restricted to essential personnel
  • Regular security updates and monitoring

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access - Request a copy of your data
  • Correction - Update or correct your information
  • Deletion - Delete your account and all associated data
  • Portability - Export your data in a standard format
  • Disconnect - Remove calendar connections at any time
  • Revoke Google access - Via your Google Account settings
  • Opt-out - Unsubscribe from marketing emails

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

International Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Our legal basis for processing is your consent and contract performance.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
